A pair of exceptional sized white opaline vases enamelled with flowers.

A pair of white opaline vases of exceptional size being 56 cms tall. Made by Baccarat about 1850 and probably decorated by Jean-François Robert who was one of the most important French decorators of glass in the first half of the 19th century. At the beginning of the century he worked for Sèvres decorating porcelain but when he discovered the way to decorate glass in a similar way he set up his own business and carried out work of the highest quality for Baccarat and St. Louis until his retirement about 1860.
