Murano “Scavo” glass bowl
A Murano “scavo” grey footed glass bowl with two handles made to imitate excavated Roman glass. “Scavo” means “excavated” in Italian. To create the impression that the piece was dug up, various powders were blown onto the molten glass resulting in patches of discolouration such as would be found on a piece of glass which has been buried for many years. This piece was possibly made by Gino Cenedese during the 1950s or 1960s. His company is known for producing a number of scavo designs.
